INTRODUCTION The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with one of the world’s lowest electrification rates, faces challenges in providing reliable energy, particularly in remote areas like Mambasa. Despite hydropower dominating domestic power generation, many regions still lack consistent electricity access. To address this, a solar PV plus energy storage hybrid mini-grid was implemented in Mambasa, offering a sustainable alternative during hydroelectric shortages. This initiative provides a reliable off-grid energy solution, empowering local communities by powering essential services like healthcare facilities and supporting small businesses.
